Extremely Ghetto Day Care In Glendale Shut Down After A 2 Year Old Tested Positive For Weed

(LAist) A La Crescenta day care has been shut down and the woman running it arrested after a 2-year-old girl tested positive for marijuana. La Cañada Valley Sun reports that the day care, Bina’s Family Child Care, located in the 3200 block of Orange Avenue, was so “unsanitary and unfit” that officials declared it uninhabitable. After a 2-year-old returned home “lethargic” after being at the day care, her parents took her to Verdugo Hills Hospital, where she tested positive for THC. Police were called and obtained a warrant for the day care. There, they found the house had no electricity, the toilets weren’t working, knives in the kitchen were in easy reach of children and the sink was piled high with dirty dishes. Even worse, they found rat and mice droppings throughout the house, as well as drug paraphernalia. “The conditions of the home warranted a criminal investigation,” Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said. Unbelievably, police had to turn away eight families who were trying to drop off their children at the day care, according to Lorenz. The residential day care, which was decorated with Christmas lights, is close to Valley View Elementary School and allegedly provides services to low-income families, police said. Roubena Hartounian, 50, was taken into custody on suspicion of child neglect and endangerment.

We could sit here and chastise Bina’s Family Child Care all day if we wanted to. No electricity, backed up toilets, shit everywhere, knives in the open, pot smoking babies. Sure, those are all things that you would put in the “Con” section of your venn diagram. But let’s go straight to the source of the problem – the parents. You mean to tell me that not one of these parents stepped foot inside the house they were leaving their kids at? Didn’t they think it was weird how Bina always met them at the door and left the other kids unattended? Fucking bush league parenting right there. I mean how on earth do you leave your kid with a woman who looks like this in the first place?

That’s Bina, everyone. I’m definitely one to judge a book by its cover, and my first impression would be this book has been through years and years of heavy drug abuse. So mistake number 1 by the parents was trusting Bina. You get what you pay for, and when you’re paying a crack head to take care of your child, your kid might inhale a little weed every once in a while. Just be glad it wasn’t crack. Because then your kid might grow up to look like this…
