Rumors Swirling That The Lakers Will Make A Run At Signing Lebron And Carmelo Next Offseason

Posted: July 17, 2013 in Basketball

Is it plausible? I don’t know. One source says it’s “far-fetched” and another says it’s “realistic.” We won’t know until after next season when the Clippers are world champs. But what I do know is that it’s 100% Carmelo’s camp that’s putting this out there. Out of these three who is the only one without a ring? Melo. Who’s the only one who has yet to make a conference finals? Melo. Who can score in bunches but can’t play a lick of defense? Melo. Who’s wife tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios? M-E-L-O.

Carmelo is probably at the point in his career where he realizes he can’t do it on his own. Like Lebron three years ago, he knows the only way to win in today’s NBA is to pair up with at least one other superstar, two to be safe. And since he knows Lebron is a pass-first type of player whose contract ends at the same time his does, why not throw this out there as a possibility? I mean, there’s totally enough shots in a basketball game to go around between Kobe, Carmelo, and Lebron right?

We already know Lebron has no problem leaving a team and joining forces with other superstars. Kobe is the only one I can’t really see buying into this. He is THE Laker after Magic. He’s won two without Shaq, three with him. He desperately wants that sixth ring, but if he gets it this way, don’t you think it would mean a whole lot less to him? Then again, I don’t foresee the Lakers being contenders for the rest of Kobe’s career unless they make some serious signings.

It’s a year away, but this is something that could be quite interesting next summer. “The Decision” Pt. II coming to a live cable broadcast near you, summer 2014!
